Agents from the Federal Capital Territory’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested a 31-year-old man who is accused of killing his 48-year-old partner, Ijeoma Felix (FCT).
The suspect admitted to hitting the victim with a pestle during an alleged violent altercation at her two-bedroom home in the Lugbe neighbourhood of the FCT on October 24. The suspect was paraded at the IRT office in Abuja on Tuesday.
The suspect said that after beating her, he took the deceased’s Toyota Camry, her phone, and a few other items before fleeing the house. He went on to say that he was arrested on November 2 because he changed the paperwork for the Camry and sold it for N1.7 million.

He told reporters that he and Ijeoma had a fight over a Toyota Highlander she gave him that he sold without her permission. He was talking about what happened before Ijeoma was killed.
The suspect claimed to have met the deceased in a Facebook group in 2020 and that their courtship had gone well enough for him to move into her home. He asserted that he was the victim of abuse in the relationship.
Ijeoma Felix was brutally murdered on October 24 at her home, and the victim’s older sister spoke to journalists about how she found out about her sister’s passing.
She claimed that the property manager who looked after the building where her late sister’s apartment was located called her to let her know that Ijeoma hadn’t been seen in days and might be very ill. She claimed there was a bad smell when she got to the house, but she couldn’t find her car.
She went to the Lugbe Police Station after discovering that a report had been filed there, but she was told to come back the next day since the investigating police officer (IPO) was not there.
“We went there the following day” (Lugbe Police Station). The IPO could then be met after that. The environmental arrangements were already in place (through the agency). When the environmentalists arrived, we were already at the police station. We all travelled to the property.
They entered, and my sister was taken out wrapped in her centre rug. She was already smelling. So my sister was the source of the fragrance I noticed the day before. She had been smelling it there for days! That is how we transported her remains to Gwagwalada Hospital and laid her to rest.
The vehicle wasn’t there. There was no television. There were no phones available. However, you could make out the charging components. She continued, saying the family wanted justice, “And they told me that the guy in question was the last person that arrived that Monday (to her apartment), and they didn’t notice when he departed, and the automobile had not been there since he went.”
The force’s public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the suspect’s arrest was ordered by the IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, who said that the criminal should be found and that no effort should be spared in dealing with them.
Adejobi said that the investigation is still going on, and he told the public to be careful when using social media.
