Umeh, who resides at 29, Ajoke St., Ago Palace Way, Okota in Lagos, was charged by the police with defilement.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, did not allow Umeh to enter a plea due to lack of jurisdiction.
The case has been adjourned until April 9 to seek legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, SP Kehinde Ajayi, the offence took place in January 2023 at Umeh’s residence, which is located on the same street as the victim’s parents.
Ajayi further stated that the suspect enticed the girl into his house, defiled her, and warned her not to disclose the incident to anyone.
This act is in violation of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
