On Sunday, a joint security force made up of personnel of the military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and vigilante groups neutralised one alleged bandit and freed three hostages.
Malam Yahaya Sarki, Special Assistant to Kebbi Governor on Media and Publicity, stated in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi on Monday that the operation was carried out in the Kanzama forest, Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to him, the action was in response to the assurances Governor Nasir Idris gave to the Kalgo communities in Bunza LGA on Saturday.

The governor reportedly ordered a combined effort to pursue the bandits and the provision of sufficient security to the affected areas during an emergency security council meeting, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Additionally, the governor gave the joint security team appropriate logistics. He demanded the deployment of extra security officers in addition to continuing measures to improve security and safeguard people and property in the region and throughout the state.
Sarki claims that the governor commended the brave security guards for their efforts and promised to give them all the assistance they need to keep the state secure.
