On Thursday, 1 Division Nigerian Army troops and Operation Whirl Punch severely wounded bandits and terrorists operating in the Birnin Gwari bush.
This was disclosed in a statement received by OBASANJONEWS24 in Abuja, which was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division.
Yahaya stated that based on reliable information, the military conducted an aggressive clearance operation to terrorist strongholds in the Kaduna State local government area of Birnin Gwari, including Sabon-Birni, Dogon Dawa, Saulawa, Maidaro-Ngede Allah, and Kidenda. During this operation, the army established touch with the rebels.

Following the initial point of contact, there was a firefight in which the military managed to neutralise six bandits and seize two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 rifle magazines, fourteen rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, forty bandit uniform pairs, and nine motorcycles.
The statement read, “Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander operation WHIRL PUNCH, has commended the troops for their bravery and vowed them not to give up until all terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements in the Division’s Area of Responsibility are completely neutralised.”
