The JAMB offices are experiencing a surge of students addressing ‘illegal admissions’ concerns as the deadline approaches.
With the deadline of August 31, 2024 fast approaching for Nigerian tertiary institutions to reveal their acceptance of candidates outside the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), students are hurrying to JAMB offices across Nigeria seeking clarity on their admission status.
According to Obasanjonews.com, JAMB has instructed all universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to provide rosters of individuals who were admitted outside the CAPS system between 2017 and now.
The goal of the directive is to guarantee adherence to the prescribed admission procedures.
On Thursday, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin pointed out that a substantial amount of students were visiting JAMB offices in response to the directive given by them in their statement.

It was clarified that the institutions carry the sole responsibility for compliance, not the candidates.
According to the statement, there has been a significant increase in the number of candidates visiting Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) offices seeking information on admissions that were not processed through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) between 2017 and now.
Although we acknowledge the candidates’ concern, it is crucial to specify that the directive centers on institutions in question and their responsibility to disclose all admissions of this nature by August 31st, 2024.
The urgency of the situation was stressed by Dr. Benjamin, who called on institutions to conduct a comprehensive review and adhere completely to JAMB’s initial directive. He cautioned that there would be serious consequences for failing to disclose information.
The statement informed that candidates are prohibited from accepting admissions outside CAPS.
The examining authority cautioned that it will not consider any undisclosed admissions and will henceforth no longer condone any breaches of its procedures.
