The All Progressives Congress, or APC, and Prof. Sandy Onor, their candidate for governor, filed an appeal, which the court denied on Friday.
The Supreme Court stated in a unanimous ruling read by Justice Heleen Morenikeji Ogunwumiju that the PDP and its candidate for governor had miserably failed to provide evidence to support the accusations made against the governor over their lack of eligibility to run for office.
The claims made by Prof. Onor that the governor lacked a secondary school education were dismissed by Justice Ogunwumiju as absurd.
When pressed to prove their claims in the tribunal, she said that the PDP and the governorship candidate backed down.
Despite the fact that they were not assessed any costs, Justice Ogunwumiju dismissed the petition in its entirety on the grounds that it was unfounded and without merit.
The petition was originally dismissed separately for lack of merit, and the Court of Appeal’s concurrent findings were maintained by the supreme court.
