Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, commended President Bola Tinubu on the Supreme Court’s decision and urged him to take on the task of rescuing Nigerians from the harsh reality they faced on a daily basis.

This was mentioned by Olawepo-Hashim, a businessman and activist, in his Sunday greetings to Tinubu in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) notes that Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, both former vice presidents, had petitioned the Apex court to dismiss and set aside the PEPT’s September 6 judgement, which had confirmed Tinubu’s victory.

But on Thursday, the seven-member panel headed by Justice Inyang Okoro declared that the appeal was without merit and that it “is hereby dismissed.”

According to Olawepo-Hashim, starting out strong would not be sufficient because he would now need to be able to fly when necessary.

He clarified that the President had more work to do because he was the one with the democratic mandate and the economy was being impacted by the worst inflation in more than 20 years.

The businessman claimed that in the four months of Tinubu’s administration, the value of the country’s currency had dropped by 80% on the black market.

“Although the legal challenges to the results of the 2023 presidential election have come and gone, they culminated on October 26 with the Supreme Court’s decision on various appeals.”

“The two’s tenacious but polite challenges following the election are significant contributions to our democracy and will enhance our body of legal precedent.

“Those whose petitions were denied by the courts as well as the winners of the case now need to dedicate themselves as leaders to the crucial work of bringing the nation together.
He declared, “They have to safeguard the country, revive the economy, and enhance the well-being of our citizens.”

Additionally, Olawepo-Hashim recalled that they had advised multiple times, both before and after the election, that the Post-Buhari administration ought to be a government of national unity.

He continued by saying that because of the extreme rift in the political system and the terrible harm done to the economy, this was similar to retired General Yakubu Gowon’s ministry after the American Civil War.
The businessman claimed that following the election, some people disregarded the idea, claiming that a government with “national competence” was instead necessary.

He said that the nation was now eagerly awaiting proof that the “competence” was being reflected in the wellbeing of the populace.
The activist highlighted that “important national responsibilities cannot be a gift for yes boys and girls at moments of severe national crises” at this pivotal point in the history of the country.

Additionally, he gave advice to the opposition party, which split into three and a half during the 2023 election campaign, saying that they had work to do if they were to have any bearing on Nigeria’s immediate political destiny.
