The appeal made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Sa’idu Umar, against the election of Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has been dismissed by the Supreme Court.
The court’s five-member panel, in a unanimous decision, declared that the appeal lacked merit. Justice Tijjani Abubakar, delivering the lead judgment, stated that the appellants were unable to substantiate their allegations of non-compliance.
Consequently, the court upheld the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal, which affirmed Aliyu’s election.
Further details will be provided soon.
