The Super Eagles B secure a dominant victory over Ghana, marking their return to the CHAN tournament after a six-year absence.

The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria have clinched their spot in the 2025 African Nations Championship following a decisive 3-1 win against Ghana’s Black Galaxies at Uyo’s Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday.

After a scoreless first leg in Accra, the Eagles B took command of the return match by scoring three goals in the first half.

Sodiq Ismail and Nduka Junior from Remo Stars gave Nigeria an early advantage in the first 22 minutes, followed by Kazeem Ogunleye of Rangers who increased the lead in the 25th minute.

Stephen Amankuna scored for Ghana in the 73rd minute, reducing the deficit. However, it was only a consolation goal as Nigeria maintained their lead to secure qualification for their first CHAN tournament since 2018.

The win was especially meaningful because it came against Ghana, a team that had previously ousted Nigeria from CHAN qualification in both 2008 and 2022.

The Eagles B are set to participate in the tournament jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania from February 1-25, 2025. They will strive to surpass their previous best performance as runners-up in 2018.
