Sanwo-Olu initiated the program to impact various sectors of the economy, including transportation, MSME trade, food, education, and health, all operating under the theme EKO CARES.
The pilot scheme of the Ounjè Èko market started on Sunday, March 17, offering discounted food items like rice, beans, garri, bread, eggs, and perishables such as tomato, pepper, rodo, and onions.
Local food vendors have experienced a surge in sales since the commencement of the program, with residents in each area expressing delight at the affordable prices.
Omotoso mentioned that the market activities are overseen by LASG officials, youth volunteers, private sector payment solution providers, and local government officials to ensure smooth operations.
Residents are advised to pay attention to the prices of items in each market location as slight variations may occur.
Additionally, a new market site has been established in Lekki Phase 1 to cater to the needs of the residents in that vicinity.
Omotoso also directed individuals to check the detailed market locations on Lagos State Government social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, and www.lagosstate.gov.ng.
