This comes after a confrontation with Trabzonspor fans, which was announced by the TFF recently.

The incident occurred when home supporters stormed the field at Trabzonspor’s stadium following the conclusion of the Super Lig match on March 17, which Fenerbahce emerged victorious with a 3-2 scoreline.

The chaos unfolded as the Fenerbahce players and coaching staff were celebrating their win, resulting in goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic being physically assaulted. Bright Osayi-Samuel, aged 26, was reported to have punched one of the fans who had invaded the pitch wearing a mask, while Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde was accused of kicking the same individual.

In addition to the players, a third individual from the team and two club employees are also expected to face the disciplinary committee for their involvement in the altercation, as stated by the TFF. Furthermore, a Trabzonspor assistant coach is also scheduled to appear before the disciplinary board.

The violence that erupted during the match was strongly condemned by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who described it as “absolutely unacceptable.” Following the incident, thirteen Trabzonspor supporters were arrested, with five of them being placed in pre-trial detention.

This unfortunate event adds to the list of violent occurrences that have plagued Turkish football this season. Notably, the championship was temporarily suspended earlier in the season when the president of Ankaragucu physically attacked a referee at the conclusion of a first division match.

Incidents of violence have also marred several recent encounters between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor. In 2016, a game against Trabzonspor had to be abandoned in the final minutes after an assistant referee was assaulted by a home supporter.

The year prior, the Fenerbahce team bus was targeted by a gunman while en route to the airport from the neighboring city of Rize, resulting in serious injuries to the driver.

Another match involving Fenerbahce was called off at half-time due to objects being thrown onto the pitch by Trabzonspor fans, targeting the Istanbul club’s players.
