The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has expressed concerns about the effectiveness of intelligence gathering by security agencies in Nigeria in light of the continuous attacks on communities across the country.

He emphasized that the bandits and criminals who perpetrate these attacks always seem to be one step ahead of the security agencies in terms of gathering intelligence.

The Sultan called on the military and other security agencies to enhance their intelligence gathering capabilities. Speaking at the National Islamic Vocation Course (IVC) in Bauchi, he strongly condemned the recent attack in Plateau State that resulted in the loss of over 100 lives and numerous injuries.

The Sultan urged security agencies to be more proactive in preventing such attacks and questioned why they couldn’t anticipate and stop them before they occur.

He also highlighted the need for the government to take decisive action and address the issue of insecurity in the country, emphasizing that it is a matter of leadership rather than religion.

The Sultan emphasized that all Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, face the same challenges of poverty and insecurity, and it is crucial for the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of its citizens.

The matter at hand does not revolve around religion, so we should refrain from assuming that anyone is plotting against Muslims or Christians.

Instead, it pertains to the quality of leadership. I have emphasized on numerous occasions that we should trust in our leaders and believe that they will bring about a positive transformation in the coming months.
