The Senate passed the Student Loan, Access to Higher Education, Act 2024 after considering the report from the committee on tertiary institutions and TETFUND.
Senator Muntari Dandutse presented the report during plenary, following President Bola Tinubu’s transmission of the Bill to the National Assembly.

The Upper Legislative chamber fast-tracked the Bill by suspending relevant sections of its standing rules and referred it to the Committee of the Whole for consideration.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio then sent the Bill to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND for further legislative work, aiming to provide easy access to higher education for indigent Nigerians through interest-free loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
