According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, the suspect acknowledged during questioning that he obtained the pistol from a guy named Zadog, who rented it to him for N120,000 over the course of two academic semesters.
The suspect added that he got the gun for security and personal defence against possible criminal threats in the statement that was made available to journalists on Friday.
In part, it says, “The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has directed that the suspect be transferred to unravel more circumstances behind his motives for acquiring the firearm and to determine whether he has killed anyone with it. Upon completion of the discreet investigation, he will be charged in court.” This is according to CP Auwal Mohammed Musa, psc, the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State.
“Lastly, the Command urges guardians, parents, and other influential figures to exert pressure on their offspring and wards to refrain from acting as cannon fodder in upsetting the state’s comparatively peaceful and quiet environment.”
