Two days after Moscow launched attacks that severely damaged Ukraine’s energy grid, one person was killed and five others were hurt in attacks on the Russian region of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on social media that “there are four wounded” (with injuries of moderate severity) in the regional capital Belgorod.
According to Gladkov, two of the injured include a woman who had face injuries and a guy whose back was cut by shrapnel.
He said that many cars and more than a dozen homes were destroyed in the city.
Gladkov also said that “one person was killed and one was hurt” in the Belgorod neighborhood, which is next to the main city and where a chicken farm was damaged.

Gladkov said earlier on Sunday that there were active air defence systems in the Belgorod area.
On February 24, President Vladimir Putin sent soldiers to Ukraine. Since then, the area has been shelled many times.
The formation of self-defense forces and the building of fortifications close to the border have been proclaimed by the governor, but neither has been given a specific length or position.
