Stolen Baby Found at Naming Ceremony Held by Buyers

Five persons have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, among them a couple, for reportedly participating in the sale of a two-month-old infant.

Through a statement released in Lagos on Saturday, the spokesperson for Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin revealed the arrests.

On July 11, following a report by the mother of the infant, detectives from Oko-Oba Police Division commenced an investigation as stated by Hundeyin.

She suggested that one of the suspects had transported the child to a place whose whereabouts were unknown.

According to Hundeyin, Gloria was arrested promptly by the detectives and confessed during interrogation that she had sold the baby for ₦500,000 to Pastor Peter.

After being detained in Ikene Town, Ogun state, Pastor Peter acknowledged his involvement in the resale of an infant for N1.4 million to a woman identified as Loretta. Following this revelation, Loretta was apprehended at Festac Town in Lagos and confessed to selling the child again for N2.3million.

The eventual apprehension of the ultimate purchasers, Mr. and Mrs. James, was made during their child’s naming ceremony as a result of subsequent inquiries carried out.

Hundeyin added that once the investigation is complete, all suspects will be brought to court for charg
