President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their prayers for the nation and its leaders, emphasizing unity and faith in overcoming current challenges.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to continue praying diligently for their communities, the nation, and its leaders.
He highlighted that these prayers act as an essential source of strength and guidance for the country.
The President delivered this message at the 40th anniversary celebration service of the Abuja Archdiocese of the Methodist Church, which took place at the Methodist Cathedral of Unity in Wuse Zone 5.
In his speech, Tinubu encouraged the Methodist Church to continue praying for the nation and its leaders, acknowledging the vital role of spiritual support in overcoming the country’s challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, the President expressed: “I encourage you to stay committed in your prayers—not only for your communities but also for our cherished Nigeria and its leaders. Your prayers provide strength and guidance as we navigate the complexities of governance.”
The president urged the church to persist in its service, outreach, and mission of compassion. He encouraged collaboration with the government by aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda to help build a Nigeria that fulfills the collective aspirations of its citizens.

Tinubu emphasized that the difficulties Nigeria faces today necessitate a unified approach. He urged, “I invite you to persist in your mission of service, outreach, and compassion. Our nation’s challenges demand unity. Your church can serve as a catalyst for social change—bringing people together to drive transformation, foster peace, and elevate the community.”
By collaborating closely with the government and adopting the principles of the Renewed Hope Agenda, we can build a Nigeria that embodies our shared dreams.
Regarding the church’s activities over its 182-year history in Nigeria, President Tinubu acknowledged that it has played a crucial role in fostering peace and unity across the nation by sharing messages of love, reconciliation, and understanding.
In a statement from Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press for the Office of the FCT Minister, President Tinubu acknowledged that “The Church has played a crucial role in advancing peace and unity across our nation. Over the years, your messages advocating love, reconciliation, and understanding have facilitated dialogue among diverse communities, urging us to appreciate our differences and collaborate towards achieving common goals.”
He also commended the Methodist Church for its years of contributions to nation-building through initiatives in social justice, education, and humanitarian outreach.
The President congratulated the Abuja Archdiocese on its 40th anniversary and encouraged congregants to consider the church’s societal impact while recommitting to upholding the values of love and service that it represents.
Former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, along with former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, ex-Senate President David Mark, and Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun all expressed similar sentiments.
In his message, His Eminence Oliver Ali Aba, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, urged support for the government and expressed confidence that the current challenges will soon be overcome.
