The membership and chairpersons of the standing committees have been revealed by Senate President Godswill Akpiabio.
The decision was made in the late hours of Monday plenary, just after MPs returned from their brief break following the ratification of the cabinet nominees.
The Appropriations, Power, Water, and Defence committees are led by Senators Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun), Enyinnaya Abaribe (APGA-Abia), Abdulaziz Yari (APC-Zamfara), and former Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
Senators were invited to approach the Senate leader for their appointment letters by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who also revealed the membership of the committees.
In addition, Akpabio listed the following senators as committee chairs.
Buhari Abdulfatai is the chair of the aviation committee, and Osita Izunaso is in charge of the capital market.
Seriake Dickson is the chairman of the committee for ecology and climate change, and Aminu Tambuwal was chosen to lead the committee for housing.
Adams Oshiomole is serving as chair of the interior committee, and Aliyu Wada will serve as chair of the public accounts committee.
Patric Ndubueze is on the Works Committee, Usain Babangida is on FERMA, and Musa Sani is on the Finance Committee.
Abiru Adetokunbo serves on the Agric Insurance and Other Financial Institutions Committee, while Abdulaziz Yar’adua was appointed chairman of the INEC committee.
Isa Jubril is the chairman of the committee for customs, exercise, and tariffs. Yau’Shaibu is the chairman of the committee for cooperation, integration in Africa, and NEPAD.
Mohammed Monguno chairs the judiciary committee, while Ibrahim Dankwambo chairs the drugs and narcotics committee. Jaribe Agom will chair the gas committee.
