Both Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, and Jonathan Asake, the party’s nominee for governor of the state, have received the backing of thousands of locals and LP supporters in Southern Kaduna.
They pledge to cast a block of votes for them in the general elections of 2023, citing Mr. Obi as the top contender for the position of president. They say that the former governor of Anambra State can solve the country’s problems with its economy and security.
At a demonstration and meeting to raise awareness on Saturday in Kafanchan, the administrative centre of Kaduna State’s Jema’a Local Government Area, the stakeholders vowed not to vote for the PDP like they had for the past 23 years.

They claimed that despite the frequent attacks in the region, PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar never showed any concern for them.
Asake, who was the former president of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, says that the support shows how the people of southern Kaduna feel about the need for more flexible, caring, and humane leadership to solve the problems in the region and in Kaduna as a whole.
The group also started a door-to-door campaign to rally supporters for the party, and they were determined to get the word out about the kind of leaders and lawmakers they wanted in charge of the country starting on May 29, 2023.
