Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Sunday, where he discussed a seven-point agenda aimed at advancing Nigeria.
After the meeting, Soyinka spoke with journalists and mentioned that they had a thorough discussion on the agenda. He also recalled his previous visit to Tinubu, where he advised him not to run for president, but Tinubu ignored his advice.
Soyinka described their relationship as old friends and mentioned that he visited to check on Tinubu’s well-being and wish him and his wife a merry Christmas.
When asked about Tinubu’s performance in office, Soyinka declined to give a rating, stating that he follows a tradition of waiting for one year before assessing the performance of heads of state.
He mentioned that this has been his approach with Tinubu’s predecessors as well. Soyinka concluded by saying that after one year, he would be able to provide his assessment of the current administration.
