Sowunmi, Atiku’s spokesperson, suggests switching from PDP to APC
According to Segun Sowunmi, a former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, there are indications that he may defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Sowunmi made this suggestion during a discussion on X, which focused on the theme of “PDP leadership and the role of opposition in democracy.”
He urged his fellow ex-Atiku campaign spokesman, Daniel Bwala, to reserve a place for him in the APC, as he is considering leaving the PDP. Bwala had previously pledged his support for President Bola Tinubu after visiting the Presidential Villa.
Sowunmi based his potential defection to the APC on the PDP members’ refusal to reform the party. He questioned whether he should criticize President Bola Tinubu more than he already has or fight him more intensely.

“I have known this man since 1993, both by name and by voice. Yet, for the sake of this party and its benefit, I am turning a blind eye to everything,” Sowunmi stated.
He also pointed out that the person who was president in 1999 is no longer a member of their party today.
Similarly, former President Jonathan, who was given the presidency twice, is no longer standing with the party. “I am still here, standing and shouting. If they do not want us to reform the party, please, Bwala, reserve a place for me. I am coming,” the former spokesperson of Atiku declared.
