Nigerians ‘attack’ Sowore for insisting that hunger protests continue on Monday. Read about the backlash and his stance.

Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress candidate for the 2023 presidential election has been criticized by Nigerians who disapprove of his insistence on continuing with hunger protests scheduled for Monday.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu urged Nigerians on Sunday to halt the protests and engage in a dialogue with the government regarding the difficulties confronting the country.

In light of this, Jibril Gawat – the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State – announced on his X platform that protest organizers in Ojota have proclaimed they will halt their demonstration following Tinubu’s address.

Despite Gawat’s post, Sowore maintained that the protest must go on next Monday and provided specific information regarding locations for demonstrations.

Nigerians criticized Sowore for his recent call.

@Bellotec warned, “Listening to him will only lead you to a pointless death. The unfortunate fatalities in Kurna/Bacirawa of Kano were futile as no changes would be made and perpetrators won’t be held accountable – leaving their loved ones mourning indefinitely. Refusing to pay attention will not ensure tranquility either.”

@bolajiayo asks, “Instead of inciting other people’s children to protest, why don’t you bring your own kids and lead the way? Are your own children not patriotic Nigerians?”

@computizzy1 stated that individuals are returning to work on the following day, because this plan is ineffective and they’re drained. They suggested that you come from the United States to take charge in person; luckily, there are still available flights departing from EWR or JFK airports which will arrive at Lagos tomorrow morning.
