Southport Killer Axel Rudakubana Sentenced to Minimum of 52 Years in Prison
Axel Rudakubana, convicted of murder in Southport, has been sentenced to a minimum of 52 years behind bars, ensuring justice for the victim and their family.
The teenager who killed three girls during a dance class in England in what was described as a “sadistic attack” has been informed that he will probably spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Axel Rudakubana, aged 18, received a minimum prison sentence of 52 years before becoming eligible for parole. He was absent from the courtroom during sentencing as he had been removed due to disruptive behavior.
In the attack, Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine; Bebe King, six; and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, lost their lives. Rudakubana also attempted to murder eight other children—whose identities are protected by law—as well as class instructor Leanne Lucas and businessman John Hayes.
During sentencing, Mr. Justice Goose stated: “He will spend the majority of his life in custody. It is likely that he will never be released and remain incarcerated for the rest of his days.”
Mr. Justice Goose stated that he “must accept” there was no evidence linking Axel Rudakubana to any terrorist cause, but added that his culpability is “equivalent to terrorist matters, regardless of its purpose.”
