The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has come under fire from its youth wing in the Southwest area for giving the governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, a deadline to return to the state from his residence in Ibadan.
The APC youths who gathered in Akure, the state capital, yesterday claimed there is no governance vacuum despite the fact that Akeredolu will soon return to the state.
Akeredolu’s departure from the state was entirely for rest and regaining his vigour, Comrade Kolade Lawal, the party’s regional youth leader, underlined during a press briefing.
The PDP’s youth wing had set Akeredolu a three-day deadline to come to the state or resign from office on Monday.
“He (Akeredolu) will join us in a few days, but not as the opposition parties have threatened. There is not a single wage that the Ondo state government owes. In Ibadan, the governor is present. He needs to get some sleep.

“Governance activities are still ongoing. He recovers quickly. With other groups and obas, he had Zoom meetings. He has been conversing with folks.
“We are hopeful that he will soon make a full recovery and physically join us. Even God slept on the seventh day of creation, demonstrating the value of downtime and renewal.
“The choice of Governor Akeredolu to seek rest and change his regular work schedule to enable him to fully heal is a monument to his human nature, reminding us that even leaders are not exempt from the tribulations of flesh and blood.
“Let’s not forget the times when Mr. Governor fought for us. When herdsmen started killing people around here, he kept his own and defended Ondo State and the Southwest as a whole. He has been a steadfast supporter and voice for the voiceless. He owes us this knowledge and faith. He said that he had been a leader the entire time.
