South-east youths contact NLC, TUC, and women to oppose the increase in fuel prices

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigerian Youths, All Traders and Businessmen/Women, All Trade Unions, and All Nigerian Students in the entire nation have been called upon to come out in large numbers for a protest march against this evil and wickedness brought upon Nigerians by President Bola Tinubu. COSEYL is the leading socio-political youth group in the South East Geo-political zone.

The moment has come for Nigerians to be freed from their oppressors, according to a statement released on Wednesday in Owerri and unanimously signed by the President General COSEYL.

They declared: “We must demonstrate in the streets of Nigeria’s 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, until the fuel price is restored to its previous level of N198 per litre.”

COSEYL expressed displeasure with the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for raising the price of petrol from N520 to N617, calling it a flagrant lack of consideration and the height of wickedness.

They contend that the recent increase in fuel prices has demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that the previous increase in fuel prices from N198 to N520 was not the result of the removal of subsidies but rather a well-planned effort to impoverish Nigerians so that they would lack the energy and strength to challenge the Federal Government in any way.

When President Bola Tinubu took office, he allegedly unilaterally increased the price of fuel from N198 to N520 or N550, depending on the state, before former President Muhammadu Buhari transferred power over to him.

When Nigerians were still struggling to make ends meet with the previous fuel price of N520, they claimed that during his first two months in office, President Tinubu raised the price to N617.

“The answer is 419,” they claimed, subtracting the new President Tinubu’s fuel price of N617 from the old price of N198 under President Buhari. The kind of President we have is revealed here for Nigerians.

The youth organisation said that it is past time for Nigerians to put aside issues of ethnicity, tribe, and religion as well as other divisive strategies employed by the political class to keep us apart and stand up to the monsters who are determined to endanger the way of life of the vast majority.

If there are any Yoruba, Hausa/Fulani, or Igbo fuel outlets where his tribe’s men or religious members may get it at a lower price, they asked. They stated that the fuel price has jumped to N617 per litre. No is the definitive response!

“It then means that we the masses, the genuine Nigerian people, are the ones being targeted for extinction by the political class who are in power,” they claimed.

They viewed it as extremely regrettable that, despite having access to a wealth of natural resources, a few number of individuals in Aso Rock are able to eat and enjoy themselves while the majority of Nigerians live in squalor and perish from starvation.

We don’t need any palliatives, they argued; all we need is for the price of petrol to be reversed to N198 per litre.
