South-East murders make my heart bleed, says Chief Iwuanyanwu
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has stated that the killings in Igboland make his heart bleed.
This was revealed by Iwuanyanwu in a statement on Friday in Enugu.
The awful occurrences in Igboland, where Igbos are killing fellow Igbos, made him say, “My heart bleeds.”
“I am similarly quite alarmed by the rate at which Nigerian security personnel are being murdered nationwide, not just in Igboland.
“Even worse is the alleged retaliation attack, in which defenceless Igbo boys and daughters from Mbano in Imo state discovered their life and means of subsistence totally devastated.
According to him, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and “truly all honest, right-thinking, and patriotic Nigerians,” this scenario is totally intolerable.
The Igbo leader declared, “I strongly condemn it.”
He promised to send a team right once, led by C. J. Ihemedu, the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s Imo State Chapter, to provide him with a thorough report on the situation.
“I demand that the Federal Government find the criminals responsible for this horrible crime and bring them before the courts.
He added, “I also implore the Federal Government to implement appropriate security measures to prevent the repetition of this unfortunate act.
Similar occurrences have happened throughout all of the Southeast’s states, he said, adding that there didn’t seem to be a way out right now because things were just growing worse.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo is currently undergoing a thorough transformation of Igboland, and with this change, new job opportunities for school dropouts as well as infrastructure for business men and women would be developed in the zone.
“I would want to offer our sincere condolences to the families of the security officers who were brutally slain on behalf of all Igbos worldwide.
“We also feel sorry for our neighbours in Mbano, whose homes and businesses were damaged in the retaliation strike.
Iwuanyanwu prayed to the Almighty God to intervene in Igboland events so that we could once more experience peace, happiness, and prosperity in our nation.
