Issa Naigheti, an alleged kidnapper who was apprehended by the Kwara State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, has revealed how he plotted with two others to abduct his biological father, after which N2.5 million was demanded as ransom.
The state police public relations officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed this on Friday and said that the suspect was apprehended on January 4 in the Kambi neighbourhood of Ilorin as police officers were searching for potential kidnappers.
The spokesman claims that during questioning, Naigheti admitted to planning to abduct his biological father, Bature Naigboho, in the Igboho/Igbeti area of Oyo State and to partake in the N2.5 million in ransom money.
The case will be transferred to Oyo State, where the crime was committed, Okasanmi Ajayi said. “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend his other collaborators.”
