Dino Melaye, the spokesperson for the Atiku/PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), said as much.
After Atiku defeated Governor Wike of Rivers State in the presidential primaries, the main opposition party has been in disarray. Since then, the governor and his supporters have called for the resignation of PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu, claiming that he is a native of the same area as the party’s flagbearer. They have not been able to agree, and Wike and his friends have withdrawn from the party’s presidential primary.
Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, believes that some of the governors backing Wike will support the party in the general election in 2019.
“To start with, the governors brought in Ayu without Atiku’s knowledge or approval,” he remarked on Tuesday’s episode of Channel Politics Today in response to the question, “What is Atiku Abubakar’s part in Ayu leaving or not?”
“Governor Ortom served as the guarantor, and Governor Wike was in charge of bringing about the creation of Ayu.
By the time Ayu was coming, were they thinking that Ayu was from Abia, Enugu, or Ogbomoso? “Ayu is their product.” This explains why there was no competition and why Ayu was the only contender.
The fact that you asked Atiku to take a panadol for someone else’s headache reveals the lack of sincerity in your intentions, heart, and commitment. “Ayu isn’t Atiku’s kid; he won’t say, ‘Go sit down.'”
“Above all, with God’s help, I want to assure you that some of these governors will continue to serve their party even if we are unable to bring everyone together.
“Even one of the governors, the governor of Abia, urged people to vote for the PDP from top to bottom yesterday in Makurdi. Since he did not separate, he is prepared to work for the party.
