Somalis protest against the assassination of Hamas’ political leader, expressing outrage and demanding justice.

On Friday, a large group of Somalis assembled in Mogadishu to demonstrate their strong opposition against the targeted killing of Hamas’ political figurehead, Ismail Haniyeh.

After attending the new Iranian president’s inauguration, he was killed in an airstrike on Wednesday that took place in Tehran.

The protesters expressed profound remorse regarding the assassination of the Palestinian faction’s leader.

Mohamed Abdullah, one of the protesters said that his emotions couldn’t be conveyed since as Muslims they are experiencing highly strained feelings.

Hamas and its associates have accused Israel of being responsible for Haniyeh’s demise, but Israel has neither affirmed nor denied any association with his passing.

The group had promised to eliminate him and other Hamas leaders after their attack on Israel on 7 October last year, which resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 Israelis and over 250 people being held captive.

Sheikh Mohamed Budul, the organizer of the rally, called on Muslims from across the globe to stage protests as a display of their solidarity.

Our purpose in assembling is to demonstrate our solidarity with the Palestinian community, particularly Hamas and Gaza.

Carrying Palestinian flags and banners bearing images of the deceased Hamas leader, protestors condemned Israel.

According to Palestinian health officials, the military operations launched by Israel in Gaza have resulted in a death toll of over 39,000 individuals primarily comprising innocent civilians.

Since October, approximately 90 percent of the Palestinian population – totaling around 1.9 million people – have been compelled to leave their residences against their will.
