Soludo begs Buhari, “Release Nnamdi Kanu to me; I’ll be his surety”

This happened less than a week after Orji Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, offered to be Kanu’s surety in an interview with Channels Television’s Political Paradigm.

On Saturday, Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, made a request to President Muhammadu Buhari for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the imprisoned leader of the illegal Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Additionally, the governor offered to serve as a surety for the IPOB leader, who is still in the Department of State Services’ (DSS) custody.

This comes after Channels TV said that Orji Kalu, the former governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, had also offered to be Kanu’s surety if he was given bail again.

At a rally in Akwa, Anambra State, to kick off the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) national campaign, Soludo stressed the importance of having serious discussions about the deteriorating security situation in the South-East with all key players.

“I now want to appeal to the Federal Government and our capable president, led by President Buhari, and demand that they bring a critical person to the table so that the discussion can be completed and we can take an all-encompassing approach to addressing the issue of insecurity and talking about the future of the South-East.”

“That individual is Nnamdi Kanu, and we desperately need him at the table.” Please free him up for us. I’m requesting that the federal government release Nnamdi Kanu from custody, he said.

Bianca Ojukwu, who was married to the late Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, was seen cheering and smiling at the governor.

In order to have a “full, heart-to-heart conversation” about the geopolitical zone’s future, security, and prosperity, the South-East, in Soludo’s opinion, needed Kanu at the table.

“Everyone should be present; nobody should be left behind.” I hereby promise to be the surety if we are unable to unconditionally release him as required by court orders and other legal documents. Let me have him. I’ll hang onto him. Allow me to have Nnamdi Kanu.

“I’m keeping him.” I’ll give him a place to stay, and we’ll bring him to you whenever you need him. Give him to me; we’ll take care of housing him in Awka. “Release him, and let’s put a stop to the South’s insecurity,” the governor said.

Kanu was cleared of all counts of terrorism on October 13, 2022, by an Abuja-based Court of Appeal. However, the Federal Government contests the ruling, and the court approves the government’s motion to halt the IPOB leader’s release from the sentence.

Non-Kinetic Methodology
The president’s support of the security agencies in reducing insecurity in the area was praised by the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

But now for the big one: to overcome this issue, kinetic and non-kinetic measures are required, according to the experts. “We appreciate all of the force you have provided,” he remarked.

The Truth, Justice, and Peace Committee was established in Anambra to look at the immediate and long-term reasons for the insecurity in the South-East, and that commission has already finished with its task.

We’re also involving the youth and using a variety of non-kinetic engagement strategies. However, the Federal Government must now assist us with the final component of this non-kinetic strategy.
