The troops also found a number of weapons and rounds of ammunition, and they also destroyed the bandits’ camps during the covert operation.
Six bandits were neutralized during an operation in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area (LGA) by Operation Forest Sanity troops working with the Defence Headquarters Special Forces.
The six robbers were reportedly killed in a gunfight on Friday after the Special Forces raided their hideout at Maidaro village in Giwa LGA, according to a statement released on Saturday by Major-General Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations.
He continued by saying that numerous weapons and ammunition were also found by the troops, and during the covert operation, the bandits’ camps were also destroyed.
In the ensuing firefight, the soldiers neutralized six terrorists and found five AK 47 rifles and 192 rounds of 7.62 by 39 mm Special ammunition, according to the statement.
“Among other things, there were seventy four (74) 7.62 x 54 mm Special rounds, nine (9) AK 47 rifle magazines, three (3) IEDs, three (3) Baofeng radios, one (1) PKM, and three (3) motorcycles that were also found.
“The military high command applauds the troops of Operation Forest Sanity and urges the public to provide troops with reliable and timely information on terrorist and all criminal activities within their area.”
