Four bandits, including the infamous Dongon Bangaje, were eliminated by troops from Operation Whirl Punch during their fighting patrols in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the North-West zone.
The troops conducted a special fighting patrol in Tumburku village and then extended it to Sabon Sara, both within Giwa LGA.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops spotted bandits fleeing from Sabon Sara and engaged them in a pursuit, resulting in the killing of two bandits.
The troops made significant recoveries, including a motorcycle, a mobile phone, gas lighters, tobacco, assorted charms, and a polythene bag containing petrol.
In another operation at Basurfe village, located South-West of Kindandan, the troops successfully fought through an ambush, neutralized two more bandits, and dislodged a camp that served as a treatment area for the insurgents.
The recoveries from this location included two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action rifle, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two radios, one motorcycle, as well as cigarettes, drugs, and medical accessories.
Among the bandits killed was a notorious leader named Dogo Bangaje, along with an unidentified close associate, according to the security report.
