“Soldiers did not try to kill me,” Gov. Bello responds to Kogi commissioner
Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello denied that the military had attempted to assassinate him.
Remember that Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, claimed that gunmen dressed in military uniform tried to assassinate the Governor when he was travelling to Abuja.
At around 4 pm on Sunday, according to Fanwo, the gunmen allegedly opened fire randomly at Bello’s convoy.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT)’s Kwali Area Council was the scene of the third and final attack on Governor Bello on the Lokoja-Abuja route, according to the Information Commissioner.
Bello, however, has refuted his Commissioner’s assertion.

Speaking to reporters at his Abuja home, the Governor said that his security escorts and other security personnel got into a fight at a checkpoint on the route.
He did, however, affirm that the argument was eventually settled.
“This afternoon at around 14:00 hours, I set off from Lokoja coming to Abuja and the voyage was peaceful along with the convoy. Just about 16:00 hours, my convoy, especially the security, had an encounter with another sister agency and there was a fight.
“We jumped in right away, and it was settled. From there, we had a straightforward trip down to Abuja, and ever since I arrived, everything that brought me to Abuja has gone extremely smoothly.
“I then started hearing about assassination attempts on social media. Dear Nigerians, I want to clarify unequivocally that neither the military nor anyone else attempted to assassinate me, Yahaya Bello, the executive governor of Kogi clarify.
