The Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) forces on Operation Hakorin Damisa IV, according to the Nigerian Army, have detained 17 criminal suspects in connection with murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery, as well as recovered weapons, ammunition, and illegal substances.
According to a statement from Captain Oya James, the OPSH’s media information officer, five murder suspects were taken into custody after Mr. Joshua Deme was found dead on his farm in Kassa village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
He continued by saying that troops had also carried out a sting operation in Jagindi Tasha village in Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State, where a suspected kidnapper, Mr. Baba Yusuf Habu, who had been on the OPSH’s wanted list, was captured. He also said that another kidnapping attempt had been thwarted at Angwan Takai village in Bokkos LGA.
In a similar vein, the statement claims that the forces raided criminal hideouts in the villages of Gwash and Kamantan in the Plateau and Kaduna State’s Jos North/Zango Kataf LGA and found a gun, ammunition, and rounds of 7.62mm special.
According to the report, Mohammed Lawal, a notorious armed robber, was also detained by forces in Kafanchan town. Two fake weapons and a pistol were also found on him.
In the Riyom LGA of Plateau State, the army also stopped a truck with the licence plate EKY617XF that was transporting damaged railroad tracks through Gidan Ado village. Maxwell Dusu Davou, a drug lord, was apprehended at Waye Foundation Du in Jos South LGA after being found with items believed to be illegal drugs.
According to the report, a fighting patrol made contact along the Alaghom and Mangu axis, which allowed forces to neutralise some bandits while also recovering an AK-47 and a fake firearm.
He added that during the time, troops had taken over 237 cows for use in farm destruction and cattle rustling activities, particularly in the Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Fas, and Riyom axis. Additionally, during the time, 17 arrests had been made, nine victims had been rescued from kidnappers, six armed robberies had been attempted, and four attacks on vulnerable communities had been stopped.
In order to clear these towns of any criminal elements operating there, OPSH told the residents of Plateau, Bauchi, and Southern Kaduna that they would receive the highest level of protection and that all distress calls would be responded to promptly.
