Soldier loses life in Rivers gunboat incident

An Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area in Rivers State soldier lost his life in a boat accident on the Bolo river, according to the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division, Port Harcourt.

In a statement, Major Danjuma Jonah, Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, stated that the soldier died over the weekend while performing his or her duties.

He reported that the deceased soldier was thrown overboard by a violent wave that struck the gunboat transporting him, and that the soldier was never seen again.

The soldier’s deceased corpse and the boat that was involved in the tragedy were found during a search and rescue operation, according to the statement.

The late soldier, according to Jonah’s statement, made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of his country and in service to humanity. He also added that the Nigerian Army would deeply mourn him.
