Spirit Airlines has acknowledged that a six-year-old boy named Casper was mistakenly put on the wrong flight while traveling alone to visit his grandmother for the Christmas holidays. Instead of heading to Florida from Philadelphia, Casper ended up in Orlando, which is about 160 miles away from his intended destination of Fort Myers.
His grandmother, Maria Ramos, was shocked to learn that the child was not on the Spirit Airlines flight when she arrived at the airport.
Although Spirit Airlines offered to reimburse Ramos for her drive to Orlando to pick up her grandson, she was more concerned about how the mix-up occurred and wanted answers from the airline. Spirit Airlines confirmed the incident and assured that the boy was always under the care and supervision of a Spirit Team Member, and they took immediate steps to communicate with the family once the error was discovered.
The carrier has initiated an investigation into the incident and has expressed their apologies to the family for the unfortunate experience they had encountered.
