A 17-year-old girl was among the six victims who were rescued by men from the Bauchi Police Command, who also executed one suspected kidnapper.
In a press release on behalf of Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ahmed Wakil revealed this.
The statement reads as follows: “On January 11, 2023, at approximately 1630hrs, a combined team of Policemen in a joint operation with JTF and local hunters drafted to Toro, Tilden Fulani Division acted on intelligence and raided two identified suspected kidnappers’ enclaves in both Angwari and Saya Mountains in the area,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Wakil disclosed.
The armed bandits were forced to flee in confusion, possibly suffering severe gunshot wounds, as the joint action team confronted them in a gunfight.
More importantly, five (5) more kidnapped victims and 17-year-old Rashida Hamisu “f” were found safe.
In doing so, one of the thugs was neutralised.
When the rescued victims received medical attention at Toro General Hospital, they were returned to their families. Hunting down the thugs is currently a major priority. There’s a current inquiry underway.
A stolen car was found on October 30 during another operation, the statement claims.
The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) driver was attacked by a group of roughly three thugs in the New GRA Bauchi area, and the driver fled in a white Toyota Hilux bus, according to information that was available to the command, Wakil revealed.
The Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) Officer, CSP Makama Magaji, led a squad of detectives that intercepted a Toyota bus near the Maiduguri bypass after learning about the incident. mentioned Wakil.

The thugs, however, fled as soon as they spotted the police.
“Mohammed Mohammed, one of his coworkers, was dropped off at his home in the new GRA neighbourhood of Bauchi metropolis on the same date at approximately 2033hrs, the driver “Sani Ahmed” later revealed during an interview. He had returned from official duty in Azare, Katagum LGA, Bauchi, to Bauchi town.
A group of unidentified individuals brandishing handguns got onto the bus and demanded that the driver take the wheel. When the driver refused, they threatened him with a weapon. This happened as the driver was returning down the GRA road. Shaken, he navigated the vehicle to the diversion route, whereupon law enforcement arrived to save him. The fugitives are being sought for and apprehended, according to the statement.
The arrest of a robbery gang was revealed by the PPRO as one of the latest achievements of the officers’ and men of the command’s efforts.
“On October 13, 2023, at approximately 1930 hours, one Usman Mohammad’m’, 38, of Gorondo village via Alkaleri LGA, Bauchi State, reported at the Divisional headquarters Kirfi that on the same date, at approximately 1540 hours, one Yakubu Adamu’m’, 25 years old, of Kumbi village via Alkaleri LGA, attacked his younger brother, Yayaji Abubakar’m’, 25 years old, of the same address, and took from him his red Bajaj motorcycle, with registration number 526-OG, whose value has not yet been determined
He was badly stabbed in the stomach and hands by the suspect with a knife, causing significant injuries.
“A detective team quickly responded to the report, transferred the man to General Hospital Alkaleri, and had a physician declare him dead. Perpetrator has been taken into custody in the meantime. He’s replying to questions from police officers. The accused admitted to the crime during questioning. He also disclosed that he began the theft in 2020, when he colluded with a person living at the same address to steal a red Bajaj motorcycle, which they then sold for 70,000 Naira (N70,000 000) each, splitting the proceeds of the theft. A formal charge against the defendant will follow the conclusion of the ongoing inquiry.
