Six people have been detained by the Rivers State Police Command in connection with the murder of SP Bako Angbashim, the late Divisional Police Officer in command of the Ahoada Police Division.
In order to retrieve the deceased DPO’s body, the command conducted an operation at the Odumude community in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
Nwonyi Emeka, the state commissioner of police, led the operation, which resulted in the recovery of a locally made firearm as well as a number of charms.
The suspects and the seized goods are currently in police custody, according to a statement from the command’s public relations officer, Grace Iringe-Koko.
The accused are being questioned at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt, she further stated.
Iringe-Koko claimed that people of the Odumude community have left the region as a result of the development.
The Ahoada division now has a new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, she added.
According to the statement, the new Ahoada DPO was accompanied by tactical teams, one-third of a unit from Mopol 19, 56, and half of a unit from Mopol 48.
According to the report, SP Richard was entrusted with conducting a comprehensive search of the area, apprehending those guilty for the DPO’s death, recovering his body, and locating any operational weapons that may have been used.
