Sisi’s re-election in the presidential race is marked by a landslide victory
Election authorities confirmed on Monday that Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the president of Egypt for the past nine years, has been reelected to a third six-year term in office. The National Election Authority declared that Sisi had won with 89.6% of the vote, a landslide victory. But according to FRANCE 24’s correspondent Eduard Cousin, the excitement shown by the regional media and Sisi at her news conference does not accurately represent public opinion. “They [Egyptian people] felt it was a show, they felt that under Sisi over the past 30 years things have become harder” , he stated.
