Singer Portable Surrenders to Police Amid Ongoing Investigation

Nigerian singer Portable has turned himself in to the police following an ongoing investigation. Details of the case remain undisclosed.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has arrived at the state Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

He was transferred to the Ogun State Police Command by the Lagos State Police Criminal Investigation Department after he voluntarily surrendered there earlier on Wednesday.

A press statement released by Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Police in Abeokuta, announced his arrival.

She announced, “We want to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, who is also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta precisely at 13:23 hours today on February 19, 2025.”

Portable was declared wanted by the police for allegedly attacking three state government officials who were on official duty at his bar in the Sango area of the state.

He is at the State Criminal Investigation Department as part of an ongoing investigation. The Command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary.

A police gazette released on Monday night declared Portable as a wanted individual.

The police reported that the assault took place on February 5, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. It happened while three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development’s Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were carrying out an enforcement exercise in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.

During the exercise, officials came across an elderly man at Odogwu Bar—a property associated with Portable—who was later identified as the singer’s father.

After introducing themselves and asking for the building’s approved plan, Portable’s father told them that his son was not available.

Shortly thereafter, Portable, wielding a firearm and other dangerous weapons, led a group of nine thugs in an assault on the unarmed officials. The enforcement personnel suffered various injuries but succeeded in escaping and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command. Consequently, the case was referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Nine accomplices were arrested, while Portable escaped and has since been in hiding. He received several formal summonses to appear at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, but he intentionally disregarded them without providing any reason or legal representation.

Due to his continued evasion, the Ogun State Police Command has secured a court order officially declaring him wanted.
