Ade Ebenezer, better known by his stage as Olakira, has described how he was kicked out of the choir at his church due to his relationships with four of the women in the choir.
Even though he became a secular artist, he claimed that the encounter nevertheless had an impact on him.
The singer of “Maserati” admitted that last year, he needed treatment to get his thoughts straight.
During a recent appearance on TVC’s Wake Up Nigeria programme, Olakira made the discovery.
After his successful song “Maserati” was released, Olakira was questioned about why he “disappeared” for over three years. He responded, “I had my own troubles as well. I eventually experienced depression. At times, I was unable to concentrate.
Years ago, I performed gospel music. I also had some prior experience with women. I was fired from the church because I had issues with four or five other choristers while I was in the choir.
“And it was really busy when I first entered the secular world. A lot of it. Actually, I took a short trip to decompress. I attended counselling. It is so distracting that I need to leave that area.
“I had a single mother raise me. I therefore feel more at ease around women than men.
