President Bola Tinubu was congratulated on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday by Minister of Labour and Employment Simon Lalong.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the PEPT on Wednesday dismissed the petition that Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had submitted to challenge the election of Tinubu on February 25.

The petition from the parties and their candidates was rejected by the court as having no substance.

Lalong, a former governor of Plateau State, responded by saying in a statement published on Thursday via his X account that he was not shocked by the tribunal’s decision.

He claimed that during the election, Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima enjoyed “immense popularity” all over the nation.

The following is a portion of the statement: “I am delighted to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Elections Petition Court.

“Since I previously held the position of Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, I wasn’t shocked by the court’s decision to uphold the election of Senator Kashim Shettima as President and Vice President.

“While serving as Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council, I was able to observe firsthand the enormous popularity of their ticket among Nigerian voters, who generously supported the APC and its candidates throughout the entire country.

“This decision by the Election Petition Court upholds the mandate given to the President and his Vice to present the Renewed Hope Agenda to Nigerians and put our nation on the path of development and prosperity.
