It seems that Kamala Harris, a potential rival of former US President and Republican nominee Donald Trump, received donations from him in the past.
As per the information available on the website of California Secretary of State, during Harris’ campaign for re-election as attorney general, in 2011 Trump organization made a donation worth $5k and followed it up with another contribution amounting to $1k in 2013. Additionally, Ivanka – his daughter also contributed an additional sum of $2k to Harris’s campaign fund during 2014.
On Sunday, social media started circulating the announcement that Kamala Harris was endorsed as US President Joe Biden’s successor after he withdrew from running in November. The vice president expressed her determination to “earn and win” the Democratic nomination for a chance to run for Oval Office.
In his 2016 campaign, Trump confessed to contributing funds to members of both the Democratic and Republican parties. This included a donation toward his rival at that time, Hillary Clinton. He stated politicians can be influenced by monetary contributions.
He said at the time that these politicians were terrible, but he had to concede that they always gave him what he wanted. Whenever he called them up, they would do whatever needed to be done.
“I find it fascinating that when I took a look at my opponents, I realized that I’ve financially supported most of them. It’s hard to believe but it’s true – even the one who denied receiving contributions from me eventually found out otherwise. My job involved contributing to everyone regardless of their political affiliation, including Democrats and Hillary.”
As per OpenSecrets, a leading research organization that monitors financial transactions in American politics, Trump gave $1,000 to the election campaign of Joe Biden when he was serving as a senator in 2001. Moreover, during 2006 and 2007 period, there were multiple donations made by him towards Hillary Clinton’s electoral efforts including an amount of $100K directed at her foundation – the Clinton Foundation.
