Vice President Kashim Shettima has refuted speculations regarding President Bola Tinubu’s health, emphasizing that Tinubu is a man brimming with innovative ideas. During the Democracy Day celebration, Tinubu’s stumble sparked discussions about his fitness to lead the nation.
However, at a recent town hall meeting organized by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) in Abuja, Shettima challenged assertions about Tinubu’s health, urging Nigerians to stand behind Tinubu’s administration and not dwell on his physical condition.
Despite Nigeria’s soaring inflation rate, Shettima remains optimistic about the Tinubu government’s ability to address economic challenges and reverse the current trend. He highlighted the importance of supporting Tinubu, emphasizing his leadership qualities and innovative approach to problem-solving.
The statements from the Vice President were delivered during a press conference at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Shettima addressed concerns about President Tinubu’s health and emphasised his capability to lead the nation.

Shettima stressed the importance of focusing on the substantive tasks being undertaken by the administration, such as economic reforms, security enhancements, and infrastructure development, rather than engaging in speculation about the president’s well-being.
Against a backdrop of increased scrutiny and rumours surrounding Nigerian leaders’ health, Shettima’s comments aimed to provide reassurance and shift the public discourse towards the government’s accomplishments and ongoing initiatives.
By highlighting the administration’s achievements and ongoing projects, Shettima sought to demonstrate that the president’s health has not impeded progress and that the government remains dedicated to serving the Nigerian people effectively.
While the Vice President’s remarks are likely to dispel some of the rumours, the issue of transparency regarding public officials’ health continues to be a contentious issue in Nigerian politics, despite Shettima’s efforts to redirect attention towards the government’s work and successes.
