Shettima repeatedly emphasises the importance of traditional institutions
The importance of the nation’s traditional institutions has been reaffirmed by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Shettima made the remarks on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja while hosting a delegation led by retired Justice Sidi Bage I, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs.
He expressed gratitude to the state’s traditional leaders, administration, and populace for their love and support of President Bola Tinubu during the most recent electioneering campaign.
“You are the guardians of our rich cultural history; people pay more attention to you than we do because you are the closest to them. You are our connection to the past, so we value and appreciate you.
“If we effectively use our solid minerals, Nasarawa can be to the North what Lagos is to the South-West and can be the engine room in this region because of its proximity to the FCT; opportunities abound more in Nasarawa State,” he stated.
He added that Nasarawa is home to all of the nation’s solid minerals and asked the residents of the state to maintain peace in order for the state to advance.
In an interview with reporters, Bage stated that the purpose of the trip was to reaffirm Nasarawa’s citizens’ support for President Tinubu’s administration.
We are paying the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria a courtesy call today, and by extension, we are paying this administration a courtesy visit.
This administration is on our side. It is a friend of Nasarawa, it is a friend of our people, and on top of that, both Mr. President and the Vice President are our own.
They are aware of how close Nassarawa State is, and since taking office, we haven’t had a chance to personally congratulate them, which is why we are present today.
Although it could be a little bit easier to view the Vice President at his desk, it’s not very easy to see the President at his desk.
In order to see the vice president at his desk, congratulate him, and reassure him that our people are supporting this administration, we made the appointment in advance.
“This administration has our complete devotion and support, and we stand behind all of their goals and the positive plans they have outlined for the nation.

The traditional head of state expressed trust in Tinubu’s administration’s abilities and aptitude to get the nation to the desired level.
They are folks we trust and who we know well. With the two in charge of this nation’s affairs, we have no doubt that tomorrow will be better than today.
“What we are saying is that Mr. President has started, and we are convinced that he has done it correctly. The plans that have been made for this nation’s policies and other aspects are the best that can occur right now.
We’re here to urge the president to keep up the fantastic work he’s doing for the nation. Nasarawa State is supporting you. We are with you all the way.
“We provide you with all the assistance required for you to accomplish the goals you have set for our nation. I appreciate it.
