Shettima holds private meeting with Dangote, Elumelu, and others at Presidential villa

Vice President Kashim Shettima is having private meetings with corporate leaders, such as Tony Elumelu, the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, and Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, is also in attendance at the conference.

International development partners are also in attendance, among them Schubham Chaudhuri, the World Bank’s Country Director.

Our newspaper was informed by a Villa source that the meeting is related to the recent federal government declaration of a state of emergency in the health sector.

According to the source, who asked to remain anonymous, “as you know, the federal government recently declared a state of emergency on the health sector; this meeting is geared towards rescuing the sector in collaboration with the private sector as well as the development partners.”

According to Platinumpost, on Thursday, the Nigerian Federal Government proclaimed a state of emergency in the country’s health sector.

It was being emphasised as key players in the field gathered in Ekiti State for the 64th National Council on Health, where important topics concerning the health sector were covered.

Setting the tone for the theme—which centres on creating resilience and an inclusive healthcare system for a healthy Nigeria—was possible during the opening ceremony.

The Coordinating Minister for Health, Pate, stated during the ceremony that urgent action is required because the country’s healthcare facilities are in poor condition.
