The Federal Government would support the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in carrying out its duty, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, promised on Tuesday.
Shettima provided the promise while hosting a team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja that was led by Alhaji Mohammed Shehu, the chairman of the panel.
He claimed that the organization’s activity cuts across all levels of government, particularly in relation to its responsibility to help the government raise money to implement democracy in the nation.
Shettima added that some of the difficulties the commission was having would be addressed by the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu.
He said that the court, federal, state, and sub-national legislative entities may need to contribute to some of the solutions.
Shettima pointed out that because the commission is a constitutional organisation, any modifications to its mandate must be approved by the National Assembly, especially if they would have an impact on how it operates and make it more difficult for it to carry out its constitutional duties.
Shehu had earlier given Shettima an update on the commission’s operations and accomplishments, particularly in the area of revenue production and the steps taken to overcome some of its issues.
He highlighted that in order for the panel to find solutions to some of its problems, the Federal Government must support it.
He claims that this will make it possible for the commission to successfully carry out its task.
