This assurance was made during the inauguration of the National Design and Innovation Competition, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
The event, organized by the Interior Designers Association of Nigeria (IDAN), aimed to encourage entrepreneurship and creativity among the youth, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
In February, the Naira was as high as N1900 to a dollar, but due to certain monetary policies implemented by the government, the currency has gradually appreciated. Currently, the Naira is exchanging at N1396 to a dollar in the official market and N1470 in the parallel market.
Shettima emphasized that the government will persist in executing policies and programs to ensure the stability of the Naira. He also mentioned that President Bola Tinubu’s administration will continue to tackle issues related to food, nutrition, and insecurity.
Recognizing the significant role of youths in creativity, the Vice President assured that the government will continue to back their aspirations.
Additionally, he disclosed plans to incorporate young innovators into the government’s 617.7 million dollars Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (i-DICE) program.
During the event, Titi Ogufere, the leader of the delegation and founder of IDAN, unveiled a strategy to train one million youths in furniture production and industrial design.
This training initiative will be carried out by IDAN in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, featuring design competitions and workshops where participants can exhibit their prototypes and collaborate with top Nigerian manufacturers like AFP by Julius Berger.
