Shettima Decorates the New Acting IGP, Egebetokun

Usman Baba, who was chosen by previous President Muhammadu Buhari to fill the position in 2021, is replaced by the new IGP.

Kayode Egbetokun, who was recently appointed as the inspector general of police (IGP), has been honored by Vice President Kashim Shettima with the new title.

In addition to serving as IGP in Lagos State, the new acting IGP also held that position.

On Tuesday, in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima conducted a brief ceremony in his office.

Senior government officials, including Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), observed the occasion, and the VP was aided by Egbetokun’s wife, Mrs.

Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State; the president’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu; and Alkali Baba, the departing IGP, were among the other representatives in attendance.

After the ceremony, the new IGP spoke with State House reporters about his thoughts on his new role and said that he was eager to start on Wednesday morning by 11 a.m.

“I’ll admit it: I feel like a tiger inside, ready to pounce on every criminal in Nigeria right this second. Additionally, there are times when I get the feeling of a lion, ready to pounce on all of Nigeria’s internal foes, the man stated.

Baba received his new rank of IGP in 2021 from the recently-departed vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who was also serving in that position.
