Shehu Sani Responds to RMAFC, Addresses Concerns Over N13.5m Salary
Shehu Sani responds to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), addressing their concerns and clarifying details surrounding the reported N13.5 million monthly salary for Nigerian senators.
Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has denied the statement issued by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) concerning the earnings of Nigerian senators.
Sani alleged that RMAFC had been dodging exact numbers by stating that a senator earns N1m monthly salary.
According to the report from OBASANJONEWS, RMAFC challenged Sani’s claim that senators receive an additional N13.5m monthly running cost on top of their N750,000 salary.
The commission insisted that senators should only receive a monthly salary of N1m.
Sani posted on his X account Wednesday, stating that RMFAC only included the salary of lawmakers and not their complete monthly operational expenditures.
He stated that while the RMFAC referenced the salaries received by lawmakers, it did not provide information regarding the total monthly operational expenses for each legislator.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo criticized federal lawmakers for allegedly determining their own salaries, which he considered to be “immoral.”
